Post pandemic, challenging behaviors have seen a sharp increase, which has created undue stress on program providers. In this presentation, participants will learn tips for prevention of challenging behaviors, working with parents and schools to support children, and the essentials of trauma-informed care to better address the needs of children struggling with challenging behaviors.

This session is for parents and any adults working with kids and teens. We will also be giving signs to look for when a young person you know may be in an unhealthy or abusive relationship. Whether you are a parent or someone who works with kids or teens in any capacity, it is important to learn how to teach consent and healthy boundaries in little ways at a young age. It is also important to know how to recognize and intervene when young people around you may need help or resources to get out of an emotionally or physically harmful relationship. We plan to teach and discuss these skills so that our audience can help young people in their afterschool programs and pass these skills on to other teens so they can help their friends.

Character Development and SEL are more important than ever as students struggle to form meaningful relationships, manage their behavior, and address the social and emotional pressures of today’s ever-changing world. Please join the Two by Two Character Development Team as they dive into current challenges in the classroom, equip your “toolbelt” with ideas and strategies to manage stress, and emphasize the importance of genuine connection and having an authentic voice, demonstrated through the Kindhearted Kids Program. Plan on walking away with strategies you can implement in your afterschool programming and feel rejuvenated for the important work you do.

Join us for a fun and engaging conversation about behavior support strategies for school-age youth. Participants will learn ten time-tested tips for developing safe learning environments; learn the dos and don’ts of transitions; and gain practical tips for resolving conflicts.

This session will give all attendees an overview of trauma on child development and how that impact shows itself in school and community settings. Attendees will be provided with concrete ideas of how to not only address these behaviors but also an understanding of why they occur. The modality of Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is used as the underlying component to help develop these skills. This is intended to provide a brief introduction where attendees will leave the session with practical and real life examples of how to deal with these behaviors and better support students with a difficult past.

This session focuses on helping afterschool professionals more effectively use music in a classroom setting, not only to build connections with their students, but also help them deal with difficult situations, build GRIT, and strengthen a Growth Mindset. This program teaches a basic curriculum that uses music to help strengthen students' knowledge of rhythm, tone, and basic instruments. The main focus of the "Music and Emotion" program is to show how music can be used to help work through difficult situations, show the importance of your emotions, and help build relationships
