Classroom Management during and after school is perhaps one of the most complex and nuanced skill sets, even for the most experienced teachers and paraprofessionals. In this session, we will identify four common missteps too often taken by teachers and the best practices that should be used in their place. We'll focus on missteps relating to the overuse of corrections, separating class environment from class expectations, leveraging the public setting, and overemphasizing extrinsic motivators. Participants will apply their own experience in a reflective process and take away key strategies they can immediately implement. Join us as we get real about classroom management, give ourselves grace, and open our mindsets to the possibility of safe, consistent environments in every setting!

This session will detail the benefits of role playing games in afterschool programs (such as character development, socialization, public speaking skills), teach facilitators how to build their own D&D programs, and share free resources for providers to utilize.
